A safe place to become a mother.
Stable housing and wraparound support for pregnant and new mothers rebuilding after incarceration — from pregnancy through the first eighteen months. Opening fall 2026 in West Georgia.
RESILIENCE & RESTORATION
Home is where restoration begins
Matrescence is the season of becoming a mother. The full transformation requires healing, peace, and time, of course. For a pregnant or postpartum woman who’s also system impacted, that season is too often spent with insecurity, stress, and lack of resources or time. Matrescence Ascending changes that — a supportive residence where a mother isn't just given a roof, but surrounded by people who help her heal and build what comes next.
THE NEED
Why this home matters
For a mother who is pregnant or newly parenting, losing stable housing — whether through homelessness, poverty, or a return from incarceration — puts both her health and her baby's at risk. A record makes housing even harder to secure, right when a newborn needs stability most. Matrescence Ascending exists to close that gap.
4–9%
of pregnant people experience homelessness
— and more live doubled-up or in unstable housing
~2×
higher preterm birth rate when housing is unstable (about 11.8% vs 5.9%)
34 per 100
For every 100 of Georgia's lowest-income families, only 34 affordable rental homes exist — so most have nowhere they can actually afford to live
